The next animal in this series is the Frog. This series was created to give you a deep dive into each animal from the Wild Unknown Animal Spirit deck, and share some invitations to connect to the energies of these animals.

The last animal was the Turtle, with the invitation to write your own story, and consider the ancient wisdom of interconnection. Now, we move on to the gentle and tender Frog. Frogs are incredible creatures, and right now they need our love, support, and protection. May this post help you see how to connect with the energy of the Frog, and speak up for them in real life.

At the ninth position, there are themes with this animal of being a fierce warrior, and also tender-hearted. Nine in numerology speaks to selflessness, intuition, compassion, and a drive towards altruism. With Nine comes a spiritual depth and understanding. Through the trials faced, and successes or failures manifested, Nine is a number that speaks to discipline, devotion, emotional maturity. Click here to read more about the numerology of 9.

Following the order of the guidebook, let’s cleanse and heal with the Frog.

Following the order of the guidebook, let's wake up to the deck beginning with the Bear.

Like the Beaver or Turtle in this deck, we have a connection to the water element, as well as the earth element. However much Frogs spend time on land, though, one of the deepest teachings that they provide is to return to the primordial element of water.

Frogs, as sensitive and tender creatures, actually serve scientists as a barometer for the health of the ecosystem. Frogs are susceptible to environmental disturbances, so healthy frogs indicate a healthy environment, and vice versa. Frogs regulate insect populations, provide aid to water cleanliness as tadpoles, and are an integral part of the ecosystem as a food source. Without frogs, diseases would spread, and food sources would deplete. Read here to learn more about the importance of Frogs.

The Frog is the card of nurturing and softening the self, but especially the heart. The heart, unlike the brain, is the energetic space where we carry immense and heavy loads, often for years or decades. The brain can rationalize, conceptualize, and compartmentalize. While the Brain is doing that work, much of the emotional understanding gets placed on the heart, and much of that gets tucked away into the felt energy of the body, or the subconscious.

Working with the Frog means that we feel our feelings, let the heart be expressive, and practice self-care. We are not machines. We are living, feeling beings, like the Frog, and like the Frog, we cannot keep overburdening the self and not create an outlet for our emotions, subconscious, or intuition. The Frog is a permission slip to let the tears and laughter out, and to witness the ways we connect to this world. We are meant to live, feel, love, forgive, and soften. Don’t let a hard world harden your heart.

Guidance from the guidebook

Some key references from the guidebook

Keywords/phrases: Clearing, Cleansing, Healing

When in balance: clear energy and enthusiasm for life

When out of balance: depleted, running on empty

To bring into balance: lake, river, ocean, or bathhouse

Following the guidance from the guidebook, working with the Frog is about clearing your energy, lessening the tensions, and creating an enthusiasm for life. I invite you for one day to see where you carry your stress, and to witness the subliminal or apparent triggers that stay with you past the experience. There is so much that enters our bodies, and then it stays there, stagnant and heavy.

In this world, we cannot release or undo everything that weighs on our hearts. Many of the things that sit within me are things that leave me feeling helpless and hopeless (the videos of Gaza immediately come to mind). We have to bear witness to this world because we are a part of this world. However, we need to find appropriate outlets to channel the emotions. This may be lessening our time on social media for a while. Maybe it is spending a day with our inner child, watching a funny movie, or going out into nature.

Whatever it is for you, create even 10 minutes for this to be part of your day. Bring in the water element as much as you can. Drink one extra glass of water. Take a few more minutes in the shower or bath. Go to a stream, or feel the rain when it comes down before you head indoors. Practice forgiveness, compassion, and self-love.

Whatever and however you do this, the Frog is here to remind you to feel, to release, and to be more tender.
